Joe Floreano came to Rochester 25 years ago from Rapid City South Dakota to oversee the construction and opening of the new Riverside Convention Center. He has remained an active part of this community ever since. Joe serves on the boards of the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation, Rochester Broadway Theatre League, Italian Heritage Foundation, New York State Restaurant Association, and will become President of Rochester Rotary in July 2009.
As a 32-year member of the International Association of Assembly Managers, Joe received his certification as facility executive in 1989 and is the only one in New York State. In addition, Joe completed his term as President of this 3800 worldwide member organization in 2003.
Joe has served as the honorary chair of Rochester Institute of Technology’s special event, “Putting on the Ritz” dinner. In addition he was given an Honorary Lifetime Membership to the American Culinary Federation Professional Cooks and Chefs Association for his contributions to the hospitality industry. In November of 2001 Joe was inducted to the prestigious CONFREIRE de la CHAINE des ROTISSEURS and bestowed the title of Maitre de Table Hotelier, and in September 2004 was honored as Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the Italian Women’s Civic Club, and bestowed the honor of September 25th being “Joe Floreano Day” by the Mayor and County Executive. On September 17, 2006 he was bestowed the Chairman’s Cup by the Chef’s Association for all his achievements of excellence and industry parternerships with area chefs, and given the title of Mr. Hospitality. Also in 2006, Joe was presented with the Civic Tourism Award at the 85th meeting of the Greater Rochester Visitors Association.
